In the text of Romeo and Juliet, the protaganist, Romeo, is a young man who lives on the beach of Verona. He is a ladies man who is always looking for sex. He is also a part of the Montague family, Romeo is very impulsive which, in turn, leads to his downfall later in the play. Romeo's impulsivness helps me understamd the main idea of the consequences of revenge.

Romeo is very impulsive, this makes Romeo a very enjoyable character to read about in the play. There are many examples that show this point throughout the play, one being when Romeo kills Tybalt out of revenge for killing his good friend Mercutio. Romeo acts without thinking and completely disregards the possible consequences of his actions, he acts totally on impulse, this is a real sign of his immaturity.

Romeo is also very rebellious, he does not play by the rules. His ignorance for the rules of his family and the rules of the law are at times due to his obvious impulsiveness. One clear example for this rebelliousness is when he goes behind his parents back and marries Juliet, the daughter of his families enemy. Romeo was fully aware of his families disapproval and the anger they would feel, but still proceeded in marrying her, this was very rebellious of him.

Romeo is a very emotional character in the play as he is very emotionally unstable person and his immaturity is shown when his emotions change so quickly. There are many times in the play where his emotions are almost like a roller coaster, for example the day where Romeo falls in love with Juliet, only hours before, Romeo was crying at the 'heartbreak' he felt after losing his previous love, Rosaline. This is shown when Romeo say "O brawling love! O loving hate! O anything of nothing first create" this showing his obvious heartbreak, only an hour later he was in love with Juliet and on top of the world.

In the play Romeo and Juliet, the main idea is that of how revenge ends badly, Romeo's acts of impulse relate to the main idea of revenge in many ways. Romeo's impulsive and spur of the moment actions are in some cases the consequences of revenge. The killing of Tybalt was a key example that shows the main idea of revenge along side with impulsive actions of Romeo. Tybalt was angry at Mercutio and Romeo for crashing the Capulet party, he showed this with the quote "By the stock and honor of my kin to strike him dead" so out of revenge, he approaches the two party crashers and picks a fight. During the course of the fight, Tybalt kills Mercutio and out complete revenge and impulse, Romeo kills Tybalt. This one scene shows exactly how consequences of revenge end up badly and no good comes of it, in this case, it was the death of Mercutio.

In the play 'Romeo and Juliet' , William Shakespeare creates the character of Romeo to be a very enjoyable character to read about by the way that he is very impulsive and rebellious, this makes the reader understand the main idea of revenge and enjoy the play.
